Ayende “Swift” Lewis brings a championship pedigree and player-first philosophy to the Islington Basketball Academy. A product of one of the most successful youth programs in English basketball history, Swift was a key member of the legendary HCC Academy team that went on a record-breaking 82–0 run over three seasons — a streak that remains unmatched in English Basketball history.

Following his standout youth career, Swift earned a scholarship to Loughborough University, where he continued his winning ways by capturing back-to-back BUCS National Championships. His playing journey also includes time as a starting guard at the National League Division 1 level, giving him first-hand insight into the demands of elite competition.

As a coach, Swift has built a reputation as one of London’s most promising young leaders on the sidelines. He guided the Brent Panthers through undefeated National League Conference campaigns, earning promotion to the U14 Premier Division, and in their debut season at the top tier, led his team to an Elite Eight finish — a rare feat for a newly promoted club.

Swift’s coaching résumé extends beyond the UK, with international experience in Serbia and France, and he has also served as Head Coach at the New York Knicks OG Anunoby Camp in London, where he worked with some of the brightest young talents in the country.

Now returning to lead Islington into the 2025/26 season, Coach Swift combines his championship background, player empathy, and teaching expertise to build a culture defined by accountability, ambition, and excellence.
