The COHENEL Warriors were crowned CBL U18 Champions for the 2019/20 season – successfully defending their reign as the top team in London’s biggest basketball league.

The Warriors snagged their title in style, going undefeated throughout the entire campaign, with 6 wins against zero losses, before the season was cut short due to covid-19.  Mathematically, it was impossible for any other team to catch COHENEL, even if the season were to complete all remaining games, so their championship is fully validated.

The CBL is London’s biggest league, with over 1,000 players competing across multiple age groups, representing 25 different boroughs across the capital.  The league has grown into the real ‘pulse’ of London basketball, often providing the stage from which future stars first emerge.

With depth and talent at every position COHENEL set the pace in the CBL from the early-going and maintained their strong performances consistently throughout the season.  Tobi OjuriEmmanuel OmosanyaBlessing Makanda and Tobi Ojuri were singled out for praise by league Co-Commissioner Steve Whyte who was impressed with what he saw from the talented team:

“COHENEL were the standard bearers of the CBL U18’s this season and were entertaining to watch.  They played like a well-drilled machine, churning out wins in spectacular fashion.  (Coaches) AJ and TJ have all of their players on the same page and in Emmanuel (Omosanya) and Blessing (Makanda), they have a backcourt no other team in the league was able to match up with.  Tobi (Ojuri) may be the best all-around athlete in the league and Joseph (Powell) is an outside assassin.  Great performance from the whole team and congratulations to the coaches for winning another championship in London’s top league”

– Steve Whyte,  Co-Commisioner
