CBL PLAYER ELIGIBILTY

Age Categories – 2025/26 Season

For the 2025/26 season, the following age categories will determine CBL divisions:

  • U10 – Must be aged 9 or under on 1 September 2025

  • U12 – Must be aged 11 or under on 1 September 2025

  • U14 – Must be aged 13 or under on 1 September 2025

  • U16 – Must be aged 15 or under on 1 September 2025

  • U18 – Must be aged 17 or under on 1 September 2025

  • U20 – Must be aged 19 or under on 1 September 2025

Player Eligibility
To be eligible for any division, players must:

  1. Be licensed with the CBL.

  2. Provide proof of age in line with the above requirements.

Special Concessions
In exceptional cases, the league may permit over-age players to participate if:

  • They are genuine beginners in basketball.

  • They are not considered a “starting five” level player.

  • They are not dominant within their division (as assessed by league officials).

Requests must be submitted by the team coach or organiser and will be reviewed case by case.

The Community Basketball League (CBL) is the most coveted grassroots basketball competition in London with over 2,000 registered players representing North, East, West, and South London. Our league provides organised competitions and playing opportunities for a wide range of abilities from early-stage beginners through to the future stars of our game!  We strive to drive excitement and character-building playing experiences for young people across our league, while promoting the values of positive sports competition so our players develop lifelong healthy habits and an appreciation and love of the game.
