The COHENEL Warriors once again will be amongst the top Academies in the country as they have won their way through to the ABL post-season for a fourth consecutive year.
The ABL is an invitation only competition that comprises of 40 the top teams from across England, split into four conferences. Colleges that have shown high levels of performance are invited to compete in the ABL, which runs a weekly competition for elite athletes throughout the academic year. At the conclusion of the regular season, the top 16 teams progress through to a national playoff knockout tournament to determine who the ABL champion is each season.
COHENEL have progressed through to the playoffs each of the last 4 years, getting through to the 'Elite 8' quarter-final round in 2018. This season, the Warriors have their sights on improving upon an Elite 8 finish, buoyed by a regular season record of 14-2 that placed them 2nd in the Western Conference. Powered by Emmanuel Omosanya, Blessing Makanda, Joseph Powell and the vastly improved Tobi Ojuri - Roberts squad look primed and ready to attack all-comers this season.
"We let a couple games get away from us in the regular season, but I'm ok with it as we still had some learning to do in terms of consistent effort and playing the full 40 minutes. That being said, we are coming into the playoffs this year, peaking at the right time. We're looking forward to the postseason and we'll be ready" - AJ Roberts
