After the launch announcement of high-level hoops returning to Capital City, the LSB are pleased to confirm Capital City Academy have been successfully entered into Basketball England's Academies Basketball League (ABL) for the 2019/20 season.
The ABL offers high level competition for colleges across England who prioritise basketball and is organised in partnership with AoC Sport. The weekly competition thoroughly supports the needs of elite athletes by giving them the opportunity to test their skills against other top players across the country during the academic calendar.
The ABL is an invitation only competition that comprises of 30 teams, split into four conference. Colleges that have shown high levels of performance historically make up the majority of the teams in the ABL, alongside AASE institutions that for competitive reasons do not compete in the EABL. For Capital City to be selected into the competition in our first year of operation is a strong testament to the planning, credibility, management and direction of the Academy which is already beginning to cause positive waves across the player development landscape.
More announcements to come in the weeks ahead in the run up to the first season of competition in the ABL.
Places at the Academy are limited and selective, secured through trials held throughout the year. To find out when the next trials are taking place and to secure your spot at an upcoming trial fill out the application form which can be found here: CAPITAL CITY PLAYER TRIAL APPLICATION
