INCREASED NATIONAL COMPETITIONS FOR CCA STARS

Through the extended partnership with London Elite, Capital City Academy players are set to compete in Basketball England's National League competitions in the 2020/2021 season, the LSB confirmed today.

The National League (NBL) is England's highest level of non-professional competitive club basketball in the country and provides additional opportunities for Capital City Academy players to test themselves against the best England has to offer.  Over 600 teams across England compete in the NBL, which is managed and administered by the governing body and represents a key step in the progression pathway for developing players.

Through the London Elite club outlet, Academy players will have the opportunity to compete in the NBL Mens Division, testing themselves against a higher standard of player than they will normally face in Academy age-group competitions, while also competing in the NBL U18's Division which provide an excellent opportunity to see how far their skills have developed against similar aged players of good standard.

The confirmation of National League further reinforces the Academy commitment to providing quality opportunities for growth and development of Capital City players:

"It's essential for players to be continually challenged in competitive situations and to test themselves against the best.  National League gives our players that opportunity as it brings together teams from all across the country who have goals of being the best.  This is a good step forward for the Academy and I'm happy to be able to lead on the delivery of it through the partnership with London Elite teams"

- Daniel Szatkowski, Head Coach

Details for how the National League will be organised are to follow, once things become clearer for a sport gradually finding its feet again after grinding to an abrupt half due to the Covid-19 crisis.  In the meantime, players interested in being part of the Academy and/or London Elite should apply for a trial as the coaching staff are still assessing talent for the forthcoming season.

Places at the Academy are limited and selective, secured through trials held throughout the year.  To find out when the next trials are taking place and to secure your spot at an upcoming trial fill out the application form which can be found here: CAPITAL CITY PLAYER TRIAL APPLICATION
